According to information in the 1850 Talladega Co., Alabama, Federal Census, Duncan
Munro was born in Scotland in 1784. On May 14, 1812, he married Nancy Tedder in
Robeson County, North Carolina. Nancy was born in Robeson County on Feb. 5, 1786.
Prior to the 1850 Census, Duncan and Nancy migrated to Talladega County. They
were enumerated there living with their youngest daughter, Susan Monroe,
age 18; their son, Colin Monroe, age 33; and Colin's son, Sam'l
K. Monroe, age 1; and Peter Monroe, age 75. Peter is
thought to be a brother of Duncan, his birthplace also listed as Scotland. The 1860
Census lists only Nancy and Susan.
